Wow! Kris Moon's set this morning was tight. He surprised me, and perhaps you too, with some deepness of the dubwise variety. He namechecked Rhythm and Sound and Maurizio as influences so, if you didn't hear it, at least you might get the picture of what you missed out on. Before Kris played, I had a nice little set of tuffer than usual tracks, and I was proud to play quite a lot of local music, including tracks from Bruno Pronsato and Codebase, as well as a few Orac numbers. Bo! the NW massive

Had a great show this morning, despite a killer hangover. Played much Farben/Jan Jelinek, after picking up 5, count 'em 5, 12"s of his beautifully gentle and thriftily crafted music. Check the playlist of the show by clicking on the link above.

Still working on putting together a piece on Mat Anderson. Got lots and lots of sweet music from him, and also some pretty funny "interview" clips. The guy's a laugh.

Coming to an internet connection near you - This Saturday, the 10th of May, .sounding depth. is returning after a short break. Not just that, but I'm proud to announce the Rainy Dawg Radio debut of Zapan. This is the man behind the brilliant first-ever Sea-Tac wide laptop cage match at the Deep Down Lounge a few weeks ago, and also a member of the Fourthcity collective, whose Monday night weekly has caused quite a stir for its bold cross-genre stylings, and urbanartistic flair. He'll be jamming a live laptop set. Don't miss it.

Wicked. Just got confirmation from Kris Moon (of robotrash infamy) that he'll be joining me in the studio on May 31st to play a live laptop set. If you've never heard his custom creations, you're in for a treat. In fact, even if you have you're in for a treat anyhoo.

Also wanted to give props to Tom Butcher for the release of his new album as Codebase, Style Encoding. I've been listening to many a track off this for some time, and with great pleasure indeed. Great to see more fantastic Seattle music being spread worldwide, on Force Inc, no less.

Tom's a great guy. He told me a story once, of when he was a little kid and he went to the mall with his Grandma. He bought a Kraftwerk tape and played it for her on the way home. She dug it.

Here's an archive of jake elliott's appearance on .sounding depth. (19th April 2003)

About 50 minutes of house music, concluded with a live reconstruction of a sort of trip-hop track that he and 2620 wrote. I totally recommend this set - it's subtly crafted, but funky as all hell.
